Penn FC announced the signing of Jorge Rivera on Thursday, adding their second midfielder to the 2018 roster. Rivera will join the Harrisburg club pending USL and USSF approval.
Prior to signing with Penn FC, Jorge Rivera played two years for NASL club Puerto Rico FC (PRFC). The San Juan native signed with PRFC in 2016, making 25 overall appearances for the club in two years.
In his first season with the team, Rivera scored his first two career goals during la Copa Luis Villarejo as PRFC went on to win the tournament and their first trophy. In PRFC's midfield, Rivera's signature was accurate passing, and he ranked third on the team with nearly 87 percent of his passes reaching his teammates in 2017.
Rivera began his professional career with Puerto Rico Soccer League's Guayama FC in 2015 and is a member of the Puerto Rican National team.
Rivera joins John Grosh in the midfield in 2018. The current roster is as follows:
Tiago Calvano (defender)
Jake Bond (defender)
Sean Lewis (goalkeeper)
John Grosh (midfielder)
Jorge Rivera (midfielder)
