PENN FC SIGNS SALVATORE BARONE, MIGUEL JAIME AND HARRI HAWKINS

The Harrisburg club welcomes four USL rookies in 2018

Penn FC announced on Wednesday that Salvatore Barone (midfielder), Miguel Jaime (midfielder) and Harri Hawkins (defender) will continue their professional football careers in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, pending USL and USSF approval.  

Barone begins his USL career with Penn FC after playing his first professional season with NASL-side New York Cosmos in 2017. He made one appearance for the Cosmos that year. Prior to joining the Cosmos, Barone played for the National Premier Soccer League’s Brooklyn Italians. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native played collegiately at St. Francis Brooklyn, helping them win the Northeast Conference Men’s Soccer Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Additionally, Barone earned All-Northeast Conference First Team honors (2016), was named NEC Tournament MVP (2016), and played in the NCAA Men’s Soccer College Cup in 2014 and 2016.

Jaime, a native of Denver, Co.,  arrives in Harrisburg after a 2017 stint with the Ocean City Nor’easters of the PDL. With the New Jersey team, Jaime recorded eight goals and two assists. In his four seasons at Florida Gulf Coast University, Jaime was a crucial piece in the Eagles’ midfield as he started in 54 of 67 total appearances. He proved his ability to finish or facilitate in the offensive end, ending his collegiate career with five goals and nine assists. Jaime and his teammates won two Atlantic Sun Conference Championships while also making two NCAA Tournaments. Jaime is the second Colorado Rush Soccer academy player to sign with Penn FC after Jacob Lissek signed with the team on Feb. 15, 2018.

Hawkins begins his USL career with Penn FC after playing his first professional season in 2017 with NASL-side New York Cosmos and its reserve team of the NPSL, New York Cosmos B. Hawkins’ other stints in the American soccer pyramid included time with the Long Island Rough Riders (2014-15) and Ventura County Fusion (2016), both teams of the PDL. The Cambridge, England native played collegiately at Hofstra University in New York. Hawkins captained the Pride during his senior year and earned Colonial Athletic Association Defender of the year honors. He earned All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team honors during his sophomore, junior and senior years. While contributing to multiple clean sheets at Hofstra, Hawkins recorded three goals including two game-winners and one assist.
