Harrisburg adds international talent as goalkeeper

Penn FC announced on Tuesday that Romuald Peiser has been signed to the Harrisburg squad for the  season. Pending USSF approval, the French goalkeeper will spend his first USL season in Central PA.

Peiser joins the club following four successful seasons in the NASL. In one season with the San Francisco Deltas (2017) and three seasons with Ottawa Fury FC (2014-16), he started in all 104 matches that he played in, logging nearly 9,300 minutes.

By the end of his NASL career, he compiled a 40-29-34 record in the net including 36 clean sheets. Peiser posted a 1.09 goals against average in those four seasons while saving 213 shots on goal. Peiser recorded shut-outs in the Deltas’ two playoff games last season including their 2-0 victory over the New York Cosmos in the NASL Championship. Additionally, he started for Fury FC in the 2016 Canadian Championship when the team defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-0. Peiser won the 2015 Golden Glove award for his heroics with Fury FC after making 73 saves and conceding only a 0.76 gaa.

The Phalsbourg, France native’s soccer career began in the Paris Saint-Germain youth system. He then played for the German side Bayer Leverkusen II and KFC Uerdingen. Following his seasons in Germany, he spent one year with Swiss club FC Vaduz before moving to Romania and playing for FC Rapid Bucharest (2003-04).

Before his venture to North America, Peiser spent time between France and Portugal, competing with various clubs such as Troyes AC, FC Guengnon, Naval, and Académica. Peiser’s illustrious international career helped him become fluent in Portuguese, German, and English along with his native French.
