Penn FC Midfielder Richie Menjivar has been named to the USL Team of the Week Reserves for Week 30. Menjivar earned his spot this week by playing a crucial role in Penn FC’s two-goal comeback against the Charlotte Independence.
Penn FC went down two goals early to the Charlotte Independence, but Menjivar helped orchestrate a comeback contributing to both goals to bring the score back to even. Menjivar, off a set piece, floated a ball to the back post where defender Kyle Venter was able to attack the ball with a strong header and score.
Right before halftime, another chance emerged for Penn FC as Menjivar again found some space down the right sideline. Menjivar sent in another beautiful cross, and this time forward Lucky Mkosana was the beneficiary and was able to bury the chance to complete the comeback and even the game back at 2-2.
Menjivar has been one of Penn FC’s most consistent players all season long, leading the team in assists with 8 on the year as well as in chances created with 64 on the season.
Penn FC looks to end the season on a good note with games remaining against New York Red Bulls II and Toronto FC II. Menjivar will be key in the Penn FC offense and will look to set up his teammates to get on the score sheet and keep the offense organized. Fans can catch Menjivar and the rest of the Penn FC team in action Tuesday night against New York Red Bulls II. Tickets can be purchased at pennfc.com/tickets. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m
